Time off for medical appointments

An afternoon Doctors appointment

If you have a health condition and your employer will not let you take time off for a medical appointment connected with your disability, they could be breaking the law. The Disability Law Service, your union  or a citizens advice bureau can advise you.

When patients see their doctor is the subject of most NHS complaints.  You are likely to know more about your condition than your GP. He or she is a General Practitioner and has a wide breadth of knowledge on many conditions but not always deep specialised knowledge in yours.  A few simple tips can help you get the most out of your relationship with your GP.

Download this publication ‘Questions to ask when you go to the doctor or to a hospital’, fill it in and take it with you to make the most out of your ten minutes.
